Commission on Neurobiology

Goals

  • To encourage research in basic mechanisms of the epilepsies, through educational programs, workshops, and to support of research training.
     
  • To help to integrate basic and clinical research themes so as to draw together clinicians and basic scientists

Main Activities

  • Workshops on the Neurobiology of Epilepsy (WONOEP), associated with the ILAE International Congresses
     
  • Workshops at other major Epilepsy meetings  
     
  • Training programs in epilepsy research

  • Informal meeting during the 2001 WONOEP meeting (Iguaso Falls, Brazil, May, 2001)
     
  • Formal meeting during the 2000 American Epilepsy Society meeting (Los Angeles, December, 2000)
     
  • Informal meeting during the Prague Congress
     
  • Formal meeting during the 1999 American Epilepsy Society meeting (Orlando, December, 1999)

  • Organize basic science symposium at European Congress of Epileptology
     
  • Organize basic science symposium at Latin American Epilepsy Congress
     
  • Organize basic science symposium at Congress of the Asian and Oceanian Epilepsy
     
  • Organize the Fifth Workshop on the Neurobiology of Epilepsy (WONOEP V) and edit publication (now in press)
     
  • Organize the Sixth Workshop on the Neurobiology of Epilepsy (WONOEP VI)
     
  • Develop and review new ILAE fellowship program for research training
