Editors, Associate Editors, and Editorial Board

Sándor Beniczky is a neurologist, clinical neurophysiologist and epileptologist. He is professor of Clinical Neurophysiology at Aarhus University Hospital, and the head of the Clinical Neurophysiology Department at the Danish Epilepsy Centre in Dianalund, Denmark. He is the chair of the joint EEG taskforce of the IFCN and ILAE, member of the ILAE commission on diagnostic methods, ILAE education taskforce and the executive board of ILAE-Europe. The main research interest of Professor Beniczky is EEG and epilepsy, focusing on electromagnetic source imaging, seizure detection, standardisation and quality-assurance in clinical neurophysiology, long term video-EEG monitoring and epilepsy surgery.

Elza Márcia Yacubian is a specialist in neurology, child neurology, and neurophysiology in Brazil where she is Associate Professor of the Neurology Department of Universidade Federal de São Paulo. She is involved in the Latin American Summer School on Epilepsy (LASSE), and ALADE (Academia Latinoamericana de Epilepsia). She published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers on epilepsy, many based upon PhD and doctoral theses written under her mentorship. She was president of the Brazilian League Against Epilepsy 1994-1996 and of the Brazilian Epilepsy Association from 2004-2008.

Alexis Arzimanoglou was one of the founders of Epileptic Disorders, and together with Jean Aicardi, he made tremendous contributions to building up the journal. In the first years, electronic manuscript management platforms were not available, and Alexis, singlehandedly managed manuscripts submitted by post, as letters and video tapes. Later on, CDs replaced tapes, and in 2006, Epileptic Disorders moved to an online platform.

Thanks to Alexis’ leadership and tenacity, Epileptic Disorders has become the official educational journal of the ILAE, focusing on the clinical practice, with electro-clinical features. Beginning September 1st, Alexis will serve as Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of the journal. We would like to thank him for his dedication in founding and developing the journal, as well as his decisive contribution to the educational programs of the League.

Article Submission and Review

In 2013, Epileptic Disorders became the official educational journal of the ILAE. Epileptic Disorders and Epilepsia have complementary roles serving the ILAE and its members. Both journals use the same submission and reviewing website.
