Announcing Neurobiology Commission Bursaries

The Neurobiology Commission of the International League Against of Epilepsy (ILAE) announces a funding opportunity for young trainees and investigators with limited financial resources to attend scientific meetings, workshops or other training opportunities that promise to advance their research career. The bursaries will cover travel expenses to a maximum of $2,000 per applicant to attend a scientific or training activity.

Eligible individuals are trainees and investigators within a graduate program or up to 10 years after the completion of their graduate degree (MD, PhD, Pharm D or equivalent) who are involved in epilepsy research. Preference will be given to eligible candidates who live and work in countries with limited resources or low and lower-middle income economies according to WHO classifications or individuals from countries with more developed economies who provide evidence of financial constraints preventing attendance to the designated activity.

Eligible activities

Eligible scientific or training activities include scientific meetings or workshops or training opportunities with high scientific quality which are not organized or sponsored by the ILAE and may enhance the career, education, training in new methodologies, or expand the research capabilities of the applicant by building collaborations or mentorship opportunities or research infrastructure.

How to apply

Applicants are invited to submit a completed ILAE Neurobiology Commission Bursaries Request Form, their biosketch, and the description, agenda, and evidence of acceptance or invitation at the targeted scientific activity via email to aristea.galanopoulou@einstein.yu.edu by May 15, 2019.

Selection will be done competitively by the members of the Neurobiology Commission of the ILAE. Notification of decision will be done within a month of application.
