Two awards for epilepsy research open to bidding

The Swiss League Against Epilepsy is helping to increase knowledge about epilepsy with its annual research grant. It now explicitly encourages applications from younger scientists, also for smaller projects. In addition, there is the doctoral prize, which is awarded every three years.

(Zurich) The Research Recognition Award (research grant) from the Swiss League Against Epilepsy totals CHF 25,000. It is awarded annually to researchers working in Switzerland as start-up funding for larger research projects. Applications from researchers carrying out studies on causes of and therapies for epilepsies are especially welcome.

In the new guidelines for the award, the League emphasises that several projects can be supported per year. It therefore encourages applications also for smaller projects and by young researchers.

Every three years, the author of the best doctoral thesis in the field of epileptology from a Swiss university is awarded the Prize for Best Dissertation worth CHF 1,000. Applications are not restricted to the field of medicine and are equally welcome from those studying related disciplines such as psychology or pharmacology whose work deals with epilepsy.

Bidding for both awards is open until 31 December 2021.

Mit ihrem Forschungsförderungspreis fördert die Schweizerische Epilepsie-Liga die Weiterentwicklung des Wissens zur Epilepsie jährlich mit CHF 25‘000. Neu ermutigt sie explizit Bewerbungen jüngerer Forschender, auch für kleinere Projekte. Hinzu kommt der Promotionspreis, der alle drei Jahre vergeben wird.

(Zürich) Mit CHF 25‘000 ist der Forschungsförderungspreis der Schweizerischen Epilepsie-Liga dotiert. Er wird jährlich in der Schweiz tätigen Wissenschaftler*innen für Forschungsvorhaben vergeben, meist als Anschubfinanzierung. Insbesondere soll die Erforschung von Ursachen und Behandlungen der Epilepsie gefördert werden.

In den neuen Richtlinien zum Preis betont die Liga, dass mehrere Projekte pro Jahr unterstützt werden können. Sie ermutigt deshalb Bewerbungen auch für kleinere Projekte und von Nachwuchsforscher*innen.

Alle drei Jahre erhält zudem die beste Doktorarbeit an einer Schweizer Hochschule auf dem Gebiet der Epileptologie den Promotionspreis in Höhe von CHF 1000. Bewerbungen sind aus allen Fachbereichen möglich. So können sich neben Doktorand*innen der Medizin beispielsweise auch solche aus Psychologie oder Pharmazie bewerben, die sich mit dem Thema Epilepsie befassen.

Beide Ausschreibungen laufen bis zum 31. Dezember 2021.

Avec son Prix d’encouragement de la recherche, la Ligue Suisse contre l’Epilepsie promeut chaque année le développement des connaissances sur l’épilepsie. Elle encourage désormais explicitement les candidatures de jeunes scientifiques, y compris pour les petits projets. Le Prix de la meilleure thèse est par ailleurs décerné tous les trois ans.

(Zurich) Le Prix d’encouragement de la recherche de la Ligue Suisse contre l’Epilepsie est doté de CHF 25 000. Il est décerné chaque année en tant que financement de départ à des scientifiques exerçant en Suisse pour de projets de recherche. La recherche promeut en particulier l’étude des causes et traitements de l’épilepsie.

Dans le nouveau règlement relative au prix, la Ligue souligne que plusieurs projets peuvent être soutenus par an. Elle encourage vivement les candidatures également pour les projets de moindre envergure et par les jeunes chercheurs.

Tous les trois ans, la Ligue Suisse contre l’Epilepsie décerne le Prix pour la meilleure thèse de doctorat présentée dans une université suisse dans le domaine de l’épileptologie. Il est doté de CHF 1000. Les candidatures peuvent émaner de tous les domaines de spécialité. Outre les médecins, les psychologues ou les pharmaciens, par exemple, dont les travaux portent sur l’épilepsie peuvent donc également les présenter.

Les deux appels à candidatures sont ouverts jusqu’au 31 décembre 2021.
