Summary Statement:
In the evening of December 16, 1997, an animation program on TV
" Pocket Monster" caused a seizure or disgust simultaneously
on about 700 watchers of young age. Through a questionnaire study,
conducted by JES, 279 cases were analyzed. The result was published
and also presented at the International Epilepsy Congress in Prague,
1999.
JES has launched a board certification for clinical epileptologist
in 1999 and 186 specialists were registered in the first year.
The 4th Asian and Oceanean Epilepsy Congress will be held in Karuizawa,
Nagano, Japan, in September, 2002, in parallel with the Annual Meeting
of JES. The President of both meeting is Prof. Toshio Yamauchi.
