Page Pennell is the Henry B. Higman Professor and Chair of Neurology at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and UPMC. She is a physician-investigator with a focus on women’s health in epilepsy. Her studies include the effects of hormones on seizure provocation, pharmacokinetic changes of anti-seizure medications (ASMs) with exogenous hormones or differing reproductive phases, and maternal and fetal outcomes for women with epilepsy. Collaborative, multi-center studies have included funding from industry, non-profit foundations, and National Institutes of Health (NIH). She is multi-Principal Investigator of the NIH-funded prospective, cohort studies, “Maternal Outcomes and Neurodevelopmental Effects of AEDs” (MONEAD), and “PBPK Approach to Determine the Extent of ASMs during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding.” She has contributed to more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and more than 15 book chapters to the field. Dr. Pennell is the current Chair of the ILAE Women and Pregnancy Task Force. She has served as President of the American Epilepsy Society.
