Peter Wolf

Peter Wolf was educated in neurology in Heidelberg, Germany, and took his PhD in Berlin in 1977. In 1985, he went to Bethel, Bielefeld, which under his directorship became a comprehensive epilepsy centre with new departments for epilepsy surgery, psychotherapy and rehabilitation. In 2003, he moved to Denmark, to Copenhagen University Hospital, and Epilepsy Centre Filadelfia where after his retirement he continues in the research team. He is a professor at Vilnius University, Lithuania, and a guest professor in Florianopolis, Brazil. As ILAE Secretary General from 1993-2001, he promoted and facilitated numerous new chapters. As President from 2005-2009, he declared education the highest ILAE priority and developed its distance education system VIREPA. In 2007, he started the annual Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy. He has founded the Charity “Prof. Peter & Jytte Wolf Foundation for Epilepsy” with his wife. His research areas include many aspects of clinical epileptology, focus on reflex epilepsies, nosological theories, and cultural aspects such as history, arts and literature.
