The Migrating Course on Epilepsy (MCE) is clinically oriented, targeted to specialists at the second and third level of epilepsy care, and focused on comprehensive aspects of diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with epilepsy. It also includes the basic sciences in clinical epileptology issues and the comorbidities of patients with epilepsy. The first Migrating Course was held in Serbia in 2007 and migrated to different countries afterward.

Target Audience

The 11th Migrating Course on Epileptology (11th MCE 2023) "Comprehensive epileptology: current concepts and strategies" is addressed to applicants providing care for patients with epilepsy and who wish to refine their skills in epileptology. Specialists and residents in pediatric and adult neurology, psychiatry, pediatrics, clinical neurophysiologists and neuropsychologists are welcome to apply.

The course is limited to a maximum of 40 applicants to allow an optimal level of interaction with the faculty members. Applicants should submit an abstract of their presentation (in case of the bursary application this is mandatory), an updated CV. The 11th MCE 2023 addresses doctors primarily from the south-east European region, but applicants from other countries are very welcome.

A limited number of bursaries have been approved. Successful applicants, with priority for ages up to 45 years, will be duly advised.

Program

The faculty will consist of leading European epileptologists, including members of ILAE-Europe. The course is focused on comprehensive aspects of the treatment of epilepsy. Different issues of adult and pediatric epileptology will be covered. The faculty members give lectures on the clinically relevant aspects of epileptology and conduct interactive case discussions and/or tutorials on different topics. Didactic cases provided by tutors and case reports prepared by participants are planned to be discussed in small groups of participants. Teaching methodology is based on interactive education.

The MCE will be given in English.

The application deadline is 15 May 2023. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by 30 May 2023.

Early registration fee* (until15 April 2023): 370 EUR

Late registration fee* (until 15 May 2023): 500 EUR

On-site registration fee*: 520 EUR

*Includes accommodation for 4 nights in a shared room, as well as full board and access to all the educational activities (lectures, tutorials, case discussions, video-sessions). Fee does not include any travel expenses and/or local transfers to reach the course venue. Single-room supplement costs 150 EUR for 4 nights.
