Preliminary program | Attending tutors

Treatment gap for epilepsy surgery is demonstrated to be still very high in spite of advances in pre-surgical workup and favorable outcome. The importance of early intervention is especially very important even vital for children. The delay in referrals basically may be related to inadequate knowledge of physicians as well as insufficient technical set up of centers. Although there are many educational programmes ongoing all over the world on epilepsy, epilepsy surgery takes up little space among them. This course serves to improve knowledge about epilepsy surgery among neurologists and neurosurgeons with didactic lectures and lively hands on classes and case discussions. Finally at the end of the course attendees learn about the selection of surgical candidates, presurgical work up to delineate the epileptogenic networks including seizure semiology, scalp and intracranial EEG, imaging, neuropsychology, pathology , surgical technics and outcome. And the main goal is to teach the concept of epilepsy surgery to be taken back home countries and feel ready to start a surgical programme or join a group to continue in team work.
