Help Improve Your Patients' Quality of Life with Evidence-Based Seizure Self-Management Programs
For many people with epilepsy (PWE), self-care and maintenance of a consistent routine are part of a strategy to help minimize the risk of seizures. Clinicians can play a critical role in supporting self-management by deepening their understanding of the social determinants of health and referring patients and caregivers to evidence-based programs and resources that build skills for managing daily life with epilepsy.
Evidence-based epilepsy self-management programs encourage a partnership among the patient, friends and family in the patient's support system, and healthcare providers to optimize treatment, seizure management, and day-to-day life.
The American Epilepsy Society (AES), in partnership with Dartmouth Health, a coordinating center for the Managing Epilepsy Well Network, is hosting two full-day epilepsy self-management trainings on Thursday, 30 November 2023, at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando, FL.
