Summary of Activities:

1. Annual meeting of Taiwan Epilepsy Society was held on April 21-22, 2018, at Sheraton Grande Taipei Hotel. We defined the meeting as " targeted management of epilepsy in different group".
There was a pre-congress meeting “ talking with masters” in the afternoon
of April 21. We have 6 young adult neurologists and pediatric neurologists in the
session to present interesting cases for interactive discussion, with our honorable
guest

2. April 27-28- ASEPA EEG master class (April 27) and ASEPA EEG examinations (April 28, writing and oral test)

3. “Introduction of Epilepsy” has been conducted three times in 2018. The course aimed to raise awareness, communication and education on the theme of epilepsy for school staff and nurses working in the schools, there were more than 1,000 teachers or school nurses in the courses.

4. By request of Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital & Research Centre Dhapasi, our society held a epilepsy education course on 06-07 Oct 2018, at Kathmandu, Nepal.
Under the organization of professor Ching-Shiang Chi, Taiwan outstanding epileptologists professor Jing-Jane Tsai, professor Shang-Yeong Kwan, Dr. Chu-Chin Chen, pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Hsin-Hung Chen and the secretary general, Dr. Chien Chen; hosted a comprehensive education program about clinical epileptology. We have more than 30 medical doctors of Nepal in the program and all participants experienced fruitful meeting and interactive workshop.

5. “Young-Star Epilepsy Training Program” was held once a year. This program was prepared for young investigators in neurology/neurosurgery/ pediatric neurology, especially for those who just passed the Neurology Board Examination. (Nov 11, 2018)

6. “Introduction and Managing Patients with Epilepsy” are conducted three times in 2018, in order to provide comprehensive epilepsy education to nursing professionals.

Challenges:

limited financial support
social stigma

Future Plans:

1. more frequent education course for general population to lessen the influence of social stigma
2. more international education courses
