Epilepsy Surgery Curriculum

ILAE recognizes that the education and training of epilepsy surgeons varies significantly both nationally and globally, even in countries where access to epilepsy surgery is readily available. This variability has the potential to directly impact patient care. Therefore, the Epilepsy Surgery Educational Task Force, of the Surgical Therapies Commission and the Education Council have developed a curriculum to set minimum standards for the education and training of epilepsy surgeons.
A core epilepsy surgery curriculum within the framework of the ILAE will help to increase the quality of epilepsy surgery; engage early-career neurosurgeons around the world to specialize in epilepsy surgery; and may help to further demystify epilepsy surgery among physicians, patients, patient advocates, and caregivers.
