Ambassador for Epilepsy Award 2025

Dr. Zhou Dong is the professor and director of the department of neurology and the comprehensive epilepsy center of West China Hospital, Sichuan University. He serves as the Chair of the China Association Against Epilepsy (CAAE, 2023 - ) and the co-opted advisor of the Western Pacific Regional Committee of IBE (2024 - ). He also served as the Co-chair of the ILAE Medical Therapies Commission and as the deputy editor of the ILAE journal Epilepsia Open.

Trained in Germany as an M.D. candidate from 1999 to 2001 under Professor Hermann Stefan, Dr. Zhou has trained over 500 Chinese epileptologists and has consecutively held the advanced international clinical epileptology course for Chinese and Asian epileptologists for 15 years. His research focuses on the drug-resistant mechanism of epilepsy and the standardization of epilepsy care in China and resource limited regions. He has published over 300 original articles in English.
