Regional IGAP projects
Only one in five people with epilepsy globally can access treatment. Epilepsy remains one of the most stigmatized and discriminated against health conditions in the world. And research to better understand and improve treatment options for epilepsy is significantly underfunded compared to many other neurological disorders.
ILAE has created a framework to support Chapters in working with their governments and partners to move the dial and close gaps at the country level: EPIACT
EPIACT encourages a Chapter to take action across six domains. The domains are interlinked, allowing a Chapter to start anywhere and build activities in a manner that best suits the needs of people with epilepsy and the country's priorities. Work on any or all of these domains will support your government in achieving the targets outlined in the Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders – a goal it needs to accomplish by 2031.

The ILAE has offered grants for select Chapters to take action to address epilepsy treatment, inclusion, and research gaps by addressing two EPIACT elements.
EPIACT Resources: ILAE GATEWAYS
To assist Chapters in their work in any or all of the EPIACT domains, ILAE has created three ILAE Gateway or databases of tools and other useful resources.
ILAE GATEWAY to EPIACT RESOURCES provides tools and other resources to support each of the six EPIACT domains.
ILAE GATEWAY to INNOVATIVE PROJECTS offers quick access to information about innovative projects currently underway worldwide. Contact details for the project leads are available through this GATEWAY if a Chapter wishes to reach out to find out more information or to discuss possible collaborations. Key findings and tools from completed projects are uploaded into the Resource Gateway.
Under development is the ILAE GATEWAY to GUIDELINES. This database is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and will provide a rapid and easy way to access all of ILAE Standards and Clinical Guidelines.
