Ambassador for Epilepsy Award 2025

Marco Mula is an adult epileptologist at St George's University Hospital in London. For almost 20 years, he has been a strong advocate for accessible mental health services for people with epilepsy of any age, fighting stigma about epilepsy and mental health and championing the inclusion of mental health professionals in epilepsy centres and the development of integrated clinical pathways. Over the years, he has served the ILAE as a member or chair of many Task Forces and Commissions, contributing to several strategic ILAE documents about the psychiatric problems of people with epilepsy. He has published over 200 publications, three textbooks, and numerous book chapters in all significant epilepsy textbooks. He is Editor-in-Chief of Epilepsy & Behavior and Deputy Editor of the British Journal of Psychiatry Open, and he has consistently lobbied to keep clinicians, from the neurology or psychiatry side, aware of mental health in epilepsy.
