Ambassador for Epilepsy Award 2023

Sanjay Sisodiya

Sanjay Sisodiya is Professor of Neurology at UCL Institute of Neurology and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London and the Epilepsy Society, UK. His main interests are in difficult-to-treat epilepsy, phenotyping in epilepsy and genetic research into epilepsy, including its causes, pathology, phenotype development and treatments. He leads a number of international projects including EpiPGX, ENIGMA-Epilepsy and EpilepsyClimateChange, which has already held the first ever conference on epilepsy and climate change. In 2021, he was appointed to the posts of Deputy Director for Sustainability and Climate Change at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, and Chair of the International League Against Epilepsy Climate Change Commission. Work in this area has led to new cross-disciplinary collaborations that will hopefully lead to the generation of new knowledge for the benefit of people with epilepsy.
