William Gaillard

William Davis Gaillard MD is Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at the George Washington University School of Medicine, Chief of Neurology, and Director of the Comprehensive Pediatric Epilepsy Program at Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC. He is past chair of the ILAE Commission on Diagnostics and has served on several ILAE tasks forces, the Commission for Pediatrics, the ILAE North American Epilepsy Commission, and has contributed to several ILAE guidelines. He is a past president of the American Epilepsy Society. His research interests focus on devising and utilizing advanced structural and functional imaging to examine the effects of epilepsy and developmental disorders on brain structure and function. His work has provided insights into the biology of brain plasticity and advanced the utilization of fMRI in patient care. Ultimately the goal of his research is to improve the outcomes and lives of children with epilepsy.
