Epilepsia® Prize 2015 Basic Science

Lena Nguyen

Epilepsia is pleased to announce the winner of the 2015 Epilepsia Basic Science Prize is Lena H. Nguyen for her article, “mTOR inhibition suppresses established epilepsy in a mouse model of cortical dysplasia” Lena H. Nguyen, Amy L. Brewster, Madeline E. Clark, Angelique Regnier-Golanov, C. Nicole Sunnen, Vinit V. Patil, Gabriella D'Arcangelo and Anne E. Anderson
Epilepsia. Version of Record online: 6 MAR 2015 | DOI: 10.1111/epi.12946

Lena received her Ph.D. in neuroscience from Baylor College of Medicine in April 2016 under the mentorship of Dr. Anne Anderson. Her Ph.D. dissertation focused on the roles of molecular signaling pathways in the maintenance of epilepsy and modulation of ion channels in cortical dysplasia–related epilepsy. In June 2016, she began her postdoctoral training in the Yale University Department of Neurosurgery, where she plans to continue research on the molecular mechanisms of epilepsy and other neurologic disorders.
