European Epilepsy Education Award 2026

Ingmar Blümcke, Neuropathologisches Institut, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, Erlangen, Germany.

Dr. Blumcke is full professor of Neuropathology at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg and director of the Institute of Neuropathology at the University Hospital Erlangen in Germany. He graduated from the University of Kiel medical school in Germany in 1991, and trained as resident in Neuropathology at the University Hospital in Bonn, Germany. Since then, his scientific interest addresses the clinical and molecular neuropathology of human epilepsies with more than 410 papers published in peer reviewed journals. He was the chair of ILAE’s Education council and oversaw the development of the ILAE Academy, the world’s eminent online teaching platform in epileptology. Since 2013, he is the director of the ILAE School of Neuropathology and Epilepsy Surgery, which will have its 16th edition in September 2026 in Erlangen, Germany.
