Eastern Mediterranean Branch of YES Established in Marrakech

During the congress, a new regional branch of YES was founded, accompanied by a dynamic program of YES events. Feedback from the ILAE was positive, including the support and praise of president Sam Wiebe.
A key organiser of the events at the EMEC, Ahmed Elkady, shares his experience below:
"It was a very exciting opportunity for me to attend the 5th EMEC in Marrakech, and to help initiate YES activities in the region.
We started the first day with the Introduction to YES session, where speakers covered topics such as "Why should I pursue a career in epileptology?", "Chances and challenges for young epileptologists in this region", and an outline of what YES is and why people would want to join the new Eastern Med branch. We would like to thank the President of the ILAE, Samuel Wiebe, for his talk on choosing a career in epileptology."
On the second day we had a very interesting business meeting and general assembly with our young colleagues attending the Congress, where we discussed our main challenges in the region, and our chances to improve these obstacles via YES. We concluded by choosing representatives from each country in the region, as well as electing our colleague, Reem Alyoubi, to the position of Eastern Mediterranean Regional Representative.
A YES booth in the Exhibition hall throughout the Congress helped to raise awareness about YES with the Congress attendees, as well as to recruit new active members. More about the Young Epilepsy Section (YES)
