We are gathering at the NEWroscience 2018 a quite unique team of Invited Speakers from all continents of the world to discuss challenges and perspectives for epilepsy research, epilepsy, comorbities and psychiatric comorbidities, complex systems, etc.

The lectures will be published as Review Articles in a Special Issue of Epilepsy & Behavior with the Guest Editorship of Dr. Norberto Garcia-Cairasco and Marcio F. Dutra Moraes and Dr. Steven C. Schachter (Editor in-Chief). Moreover, we strongly encourage the participation of Undergraduate and Graduate Students, Post-Docs and all interested researchers with submission of Abstracts to be presented as Posters. We will have three categories of Abstracts: Epilepsy Abstracts; Neuroscience Abstracts and Neuro-Arts Abstracts.

We are confident that this event will have a strong impact for the progress of Epilepsy Research and Comorbidities by promoting the discussion on how scientists have looked at their object of study over centuries and across cultures. Complex Systems demand complex ways of analysis and although almost impossible to be studied by this optic in the past, the growing computational power and the large amount of data generated over the decades, summed with intriguing minds and a lot of sweat will help us solving the puzzle of the Epilepsies and their Comorbidities.

This year's event is a great avenue for creative thinking, linking Hard Science and Arts as another way to contribute to the recognized goals of the world epileptologists and the general population: to remove social stigmas taking epilepsy out of the shadows.
