Making Epilepsy a Health Priority in Africa Project Dissemination Workshop

10 February 2023,  12:45 - 16:35 Central African Time

IBE Africa has the pleasure to invite you to participate in a dissemination workshop that will be held virtually to disseminate the project results among its chapters and stakeholders.

In 2022 the grassroots epilepsy movement was mobilized and strengthened to advocate for the adoption of the Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Neurological Disorders (IGAP). In phase III, IBE continued to provide infrastructure and technical support to its member chapters and skills training to people with epilepsy. We prioritize three key areas that we believe narrowed the epilepsy knowledge gaps and improved the social condition of people with epilepsy in Africa.

Key Area 1: Legislative and Policy Advocacy
Key Area 2: IBE Academy
Key Area 3: Capacity Building

To achieve success across Africa we;

  • Launched a round of a small grant for advocacy supporting five countries
  • Supported the development of Model Cases on IGAP Domestication Processes in four
  • countries
  • Supported the 2022 International Epilepsy Day Campaign & development of a stigma
  • toolkit
  • Established Champions Bursary Fund for individuals with epilepsy to advocate at the
  • community level.

Workshop

This workshop will give a brief overview of the project work and will showcase the results towards achieving the overarching goal of Making Epilepsy a Health Priority in Africa. Ample time will be devoted to discussions between attendees and speakers.
