Epilepsia Open: Call for Papers
The Role of the Gut Microbiome in Drug Resistant Epilepsy
17 February, 2026
Epilepsia Open® has launched a Call for Papers for a new Special Issue, The Role of the Gut Microbiome in Drug Resistant Epilepsy.
This Special Issue will focus on the role of the gut microbiome in mediating seizures and epilepsy in animal models and humans, with a particular focus on the therapeutic potential of gut microbiome manipulation or microbiome-driven interactions with antiseizure medicines. Further, special emphasis will be dedicated to discussing the role of the gut microbiome in contributing to treatment-resistant epilepsy and/or how the gut microbiome may itself affect the activity of antiseizure medicines in vitro or in vivo.
Epilepsia Open® invites submissions exploring the complex relationship between the gut microbiome and treatment-resistant epilepsy.
We welcome:
- Original research
- Reviews
