Publications:

A number of publications were published by different members of the chapter including neurologists, neurophysiologists, pediatricians and psychiatrist through 2017 and 2018; most of them are published in Iraqi journals

Summary of Activities:

1-the chapter held monthly meetings throughout the year as a usual teaching attitude usually presented by members of the chapter about epilepsy issues or by guest lecturers for subjects in common with other specialties like gynecologists, psychiatrists and else

2- A number of symposia or conferences were held by the chapter within 2017 and 2018 among them are the following starting from the recent backwards:

• one day conference held on 10th August in 2018; the main subjects discussed were about Video-EEG cases and Video-EEG challenges
• one day conference held on 23th of February in 2018; the main subjects discussed were about new classifications of both epileptic seizures and of epilepsy
• a symposium held at Central Child Hospital on 5th December 2017; the main subjects were about refractory epilepsy and epileptic encephalpathies
• a symposium held at Al-Elwyia Child hospital on 15th October 2017; the subject was Electro-clinical Syndromes in Neonate and infantile periods
• one day conference held on 14th of April 2017; the main subjects were MRI protocols in Epilepsy imaging, Syncope Vs Epileptic seizures, and newer alterations in Epileptic seizure classification
• two days International conference: The 1st Iraqi-Indian Conference in Epilepsy and Epilepsy Surgery held at Babylon Hotel on 3-4 March 2017. Different subjects were involved; among them was the epilepsy surgery and Iraqi-Indian collaboration in this issue
• Participation in the conference of Alkindi Medical College on 26 March 2017
• participation in the 8th International Congress of Jordanian Society of Neurology and 6th Epilepsy congress of Jordanian chapter on 26-27October 2018
• Participation in the 9th international conference of Lebanese society of neurology 2018
• Participation in the 7th international conference of Jordanian society of Neurology and 5th Epilepsy Congress of Jordanian chapter on October 2017
• Participation in the 6th ELAE Epilepsy Congress in Dubai October 2018 and 5th ELAE congress in 2017
• participation in the 13th European Congress on Epileptology in Vienna 26-27 August 2018

Challenges:

A lot of challenges are facing our duty in Iraq among them is the security situation, the costs of the newer AEDs, the poor compliance of patients mainly due to poor economic state of most of epileptic patiens

Future Plans:

The most important future plan which we now preparing for is the celebration of the purple day 26 of March the international day for supporting epilepsy and also the arrangements for a no of coferences

Officer Election Date: It was supposed to be last year but postponed to March 2020 bcause of the security situation
