In 2020, over 200 studies on epilepsy was published by Korean researcher.
Summary of Activities:
1. Korean Epilepsy Congress is the largest annual event that invites domestic epilepsy experts as well as leading epilepsy scholars from abroad. The cutting-edge knowledge and progress about epilepsy was presented and discussed at 2020 Korean Epilepsy Congress.
2. A public hearing was held to enact "Epilepsy Management and Epilepsy Patient Support Act" and it highlighted the difficulty of the epilepsy patients to live a normal life such as education, employment, marriage and personal relationship due to social prejudice, stigma and discrimination and urgency of enacting the Act which guarantees the epilepsy patient's fundamental right without any discrimination. Currently, KES is actively conducting a campaign to reduce the prejudice related to epilepsy in society through radio broadcasting and will constantly make an effort to protect the epilepsy patients rights and interests.
Challenges:
Both academic and public awareness program have been affected by COVID-19 outbreak. Our chapter is going to adjust our activities depending on the situation.
Future Plans:
2021 Korean Epilepsy Congress will be held on June 25, 26 at Grand Hilton Hotel, Seoul
