Tele-Epilepsy
Tele-Epilepsy is an innovative telemedicine-based health care delivery model. The overall goal is to reduce the wide epilepsy treatment gap in resource-poor settings through the provision of timely, affordable and effective health services to patients with epilepsy in remote communities using telecommunications technology such as video calls and chats, and community health workers. In this project, community health workers will be trained on epilepsy management and on the use of telecommunications technology. They will be sent to their communities where they will be acting as first responders to epilepsy; identify cases of epilepsy and manage simple cases. Using telecommunications technology such as video calls, they will connect all complicated cases of epilepsy to epilepsy specialists and general practitioners with advanced training in epilepsy management .
