ILAE School on Neuroimaging 2025
Potsdam, Germany
15 - 17 May 2025
History
In 2015, Professors Jörg Wellmer and Susanne Knake founded the “Summer School on Imaging in Epilepsy” (SuSIE). The aim of the SuSIE was to provide a comprehensive course on topics covering the spectrum of structural and functional imaging in the field of epilepsy, epilepsy surgery as well as neighbouring topics (e.g. aspects in neurophysiology) and clinically relevant current research (e.g. new MRI sequences, postprocessing and AI). The SuSIE was organised annually as on-site event in Germany. The program included both presentations and fully interactive hands-on half- and full-day workshops.
In the first years the SuSIE took place at the castle Rauischholzhausen near Marburg (Germany) with approximately 60 participants from more than 20 countries. In 2019, the venue was changed to Bochum, to accommodate a larger audience of approx. 100 participants. The program was extended by including sessions with a more research-oriented focus on separate days, but still within the general scope of the SuSIE. The AMIE was born (“AMIE – Annual Meeting on Imaging and Electrophysiology”).
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the AMIE & SuSIE 2020 and 2021 took place as purely virtual events. Over 450 participants from 50 countries attended the nine (2020) and 13 (2021) different sessions during two days of AMIE, and 15 lectures and four workshops during two days of SuSIE.
In 2022 we took the next step: The AMIE & SuSIE are now part of the official ILAE curriculum.
