Comprehensive Epilepsy Nursing: Case-Based Perspectives in Complex Epilepsy Care
ILAE Nursing Section Webinar: Mandarin
New York City 08:00-09:00 | Beijing / Singapore 20:00-21:00
Epilepsy nursing extends beyond routine seizure management, especially in patients with complex epilepsy, drug-resistant epilepsy, status epilepticus, or other high-risk clinical conditions. Nurses play an essential role in assessment, monitoring, patient education, psychosocial support, peri-procedural care, and multidisciplinary coordination.
This webinar will present three case-based perspectives across adult and pediatric epilepsy care, highlighting the diverse and evolving roles of nurses in complex epilepsy management. The cases will cover epilepsy surgical evaluation and interventions, women with epilepsy in complex clinical situations, and pediatric anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis. Participants will gain practical insights to enhance patient safety, care coordination, and outcomes.
Objectives:
- Apply advanced nursing assessment and clinical decision-making to patients with complex epilepsy across different clinical settings.
-
Recognize key nursing priorities and specialized care strategies in challenging epilepsy scenarios, including epilepsy surgery care, women’s epilepsy care, pediatric neuroimmunological conditions, behavioral and sleep management, and long-term disease management.
-
Integrate patient-centred, multidisciplinary approaches to optimize safety, continuity of care, self-management, and quality of life for people living with epilepsy.
