Sustainability at IEC 2023 is making more environmentally-friendly decisions such as to "reduce, reuse and recycle."

Venue:

The CCD is committed to long-term sustainability in reducing the impact on the world. As the world’s first carbon-neutral constructed convention centre, The CCD has always been future focused and is committed to long-term sustainable excellence and addressing any sustainable development issues.

Having achieved ISO 14001 accreditation in 2011, the CCD are committed to long-term sustainability. In 2021, they secured ISO 20121 accreditation becoming one of a small number of Irish venues to hold this standard. ISO 20121 is a recognised international accreditation that demonstrates their commitment to running sustainable events. With a structured approach addressing climate change, waste and biodiversity, everyone at The CCD is committed to achieving their sustainability vision.

  • Carbon neutral by 2025
  • Community
  • Sustainable hospitality
  • Eliminate single use plastics by the end of 2023

We consistently strive towards on-going improvement in our business practices with a view to leading environmental best practice across our industry.

Catering:

The CCD is committed to offering sustainable dishes, but also promise food safety, freshness and small farm economics, as well as environmental sustainability. The CCD use indigenous suppliers from all over Ireland who champion sustainable practices and ensure that the food is fresher, tastier and as nutritious as possible.

Waste:

There will be clearly indicated recycling bins located around the venue. Please do not hesitate to ask a steward or staff member if you are unsure which items should be placed in which particular bin. Your contribution can help us recycle our surplus items during the congress.

Bring Your Own:

We are encouraging everyone to bring your own recyclable and/or reusable water bottle. We will have plenty of water coolers on site that you can refill your bottle from. We also encourage delegates to bring your own bag if you wish as we will not be providing congress bags at the registration desk.
